Why Is PVC Floor Bulging?


The moisture content of mortar leveling layer is too high

The foundation ground is required to be completely dry, and the moisture content should be less than or equal to 3%. Otherwise, after the floor closes the base, the water vapor will rise to dissolve the glue and lose the bonding force, and the pressure of water vapor will lift the floor, resulting in the floor bulging


Self leveling is not completely dry

If the self leveling is not completely dry, the PVC floor will inevitably bulge in the future (generally seven days dry); and according to international standards, the ground after the self leveling treatment needs to be polished again to ensure the flatness of the ground. The self leveling ground treatment that is not polished, uneven or dusty also easily leads to floor bulge.

3. Serious self leveling and dusting

There are many reasons for self leveling and dusting, such as foundation ground, self leveling quality, excessive water mixing during construction, low temperature construction, humid climate in rainy days, etc. If we don't pay attention to it, the glue will only stick to the back of the floor, and it won't be firmly bonded with the self leveling, resulting in the floor bulging.


Wrong selection of auxiliary materials

Auxiliary materials are very important in the construction of PVC floor. The requirements for auxiliary materials are different for different processes, specifications and grades of PVC floor. The requirements for auxiliary materials are also different for different places of use, different construction sites and environments, different seasons and climates. For example, the cement floor needs to be constructed with double-sided adhesive to ensure the construction is more firm; the PVC sports floor paved on the wood floor should not be bonded with double-sided adhesive, but with single-sided adhesive. The reason is that the wood floor itself is most susceptible to moisture, resulting in thermal expansion and cold contraction. The double-sided adhesive bonding will lead to the corresponding opening, displacement and bulging of PVC sports floor.


Temperature problem

To pave the floor, it is necessary to ensure a reasonable ambient temperature, which is generally required to be maintained at 15 ℃ - 32 ℃; when the temperature is lower than 15 ℃, it is necessary to be cautious in construction; when the temperature is lower than 8 ℃, it is forbidden to construct (except for special auxiliary materials). Low temperature will reduce the strength of self leveling and the adhesive force of glue, which will lead to floor bulging; if the construction is carried out at high temperature, the fluidity of self leveling will be reduced, the glue will be solidified quickly, and the time of glue drying and construction will be greatly shortened. It is possible that the construction time has passed, and even there is no glue bulging behind the floor.


Humidity problem

The appropriate relative humidity of the air should be between 20% - 75%. If the humidity is higher than 75%, the installation of PVC floor will lead to the extension of the glue drying time, or the glue skin is dry and the inside is wet, and the floor will bulge due to the high moisture content of glue after paving; if the humidity is lower than 20%, the glue will speed up the curing, if the large area of scraping glue will lead to the paste is in a hurry, a little attention will lead to the floor swelling The adhesive force between the board and glue is reduced, the adhesive force of glue is decreased or has lost the adhesive force, resulting in floor bulging.


The problem of drying time

Different types of glue, different materials of the floor, different grass-roots, different construction environment, glue drying time is absolutely different. At this time, we need experienced professional craftsmen to make a true judgment. If the glue drying time is too short, the floor will produce dense small bulge immediately after laying; if the glue drying time is too long, the adhesive force of glue will be reduced, which will also produce bulge phenomenon.


Incorrect exhaust

The exhaust after PVC floor paving needs to be timely, meticulous and comprehensive. If there is air residue under the floor, it will block the adhesive force of the glue. When the temperature changes, the floor will bulge.


Premature welding

PVC glue pavement, the general requirement of 24 hours after welding - Welding too early, often appear welding floor arch up phenomenon.


Fundamental issues

If the ground foundation is loose and has cracks, and it is not repaired in time and reasonably, it will lead to self leveling cracking or arching delamination, and the floor will also bulge with time.
